Lay out ID photos for printing

A print shop charges per photo, yet a 6-inch sheet holds ten 1-inch copies. Generate a sheet with cut lines and print it yourself for pennies.

Three steps

1

Make the single photo first: size, alignment, background.

2

In the print panel pick 6-inch, 5-inch or A4 — the copy count is calculated for you.

3

Download the sheet and print at 100%, never "fit to page".

Sizes this applies to

The sheet is rendered at 300 dpi. You can mix sizes on one A4 page, so plan the count before printing to save paper.

Questions

Why is the printed size wrong?

Usually "fit to page" scaling is on. Choose actual size / 100% and confirm the paper is set to 6-inch.

Should I keep the cut lines?

Yes — they are measured in millimetres, which beats eyeballing when you trim.

Can I use a home printer?

Yes, though inkjet colour differs from photo paper. For official documents, use a photo lab.
